well I would suggest posting your idea here, if you're worried about someone taking your idea for themselves don't. Once you post the idea I believe the shot would be your's to take and no one here would do that..whatever it is I'm sure we can help you figure out a way

Post subject: Re: Screenshot How to's

Simple method:

Hit "PRINT SCREEN" key on your keyboard. That takes the screen you're viewing and puts it in the Windows Clipboard function (like, "copy").

(try it right now and make a screenshot of this page!)

Then load a graphics viewer or drawing program, like Microsoft Paint (ick......basic, but there's better options!) in your "accessories" menu.

Go to "Edit" menu and the "paste" option will be availabe (because you "copied" a screen to a buffer). Click "Paste".

Voila, your screenshot shows up. If you followed the above instructions, you're reading this from the screenshot inside the paint program! Are we cool or what?!

Now, you might want to crop or re-size it. If so, Play with the options on the left, look for the one that looks like a dashed-rectangle I think. That is the "select" tool. Draw a box around the section you want to keep, go to Edit-> copy, then File->New (to make a blank picture) then Edit-> paste again, and boom, new smaller picture with stuff cropped out of the edges shows up. But MS Paint is way lame for doing that, so exit that program NOW and go get "IrfanView" which is free!!!!

If you don't want to crop it, you might want to re-size it so it's 800 x 600 pixels wide and tall. Unfortunately in MS Paint I have no idea how to do that.

Go get a GOOD viewer/resizer/cropper tool like Irfanview! See the thread I only wrote just for you, Battlehawk, in this section. Does a much better doggone job and with a littel fiddling you'll be lookin' like a pro in no time!

See? I wrote this just for you and you didn't even read it....I feel so, so old and useless......I'm just an old fool! (sob) Crying or Very sad

---------------------------------

Anyways, get that bit mastered and then Google search for a prgram called "MGRAB" by Martin Wright. It will let you press PRINTSCREEN multiple times and each time, will automatically save the screenshot in a file, wherever you tell it to. So you can take a gazillion screenshots while flying along. This is great for getting that perfect shot! Then after the flight, all you have to do is browse the pictures, take the best ones and crop/resize them. Hoooo-YAAAHH!

You want ot do this because the PRINTSCREEN button by itself saves only ONE picture in a copy/paste buffer, which means you can't take multiple shots without pasting each one into a graphics program, save it, then go back to fly some more and take another picture....otherwise, each normal PRINTSCREEN press without something like MGRAB just overwrites the last picture in the buffer with the new one, and earlier pix are lost for all eternity.....

Does that help ya?

Then to post it, you can upload it here, or get a free Photobucket account (photobucket.com). That part is easy too.

But just in case, I wrote this tutorial just for you a while back just because my StoopySenseTM knew you would be wanting some help eventually, and Com-C is nothing if not prepared to help it's members!

Hunh....wellsir, sounds like the thing you're trying to do, whatever that is, in the limit of the screenshot size, you say you got it to work anyways so it soiunds like you did something that made a picture. Good goin'.

Since what you're takin' a picture of is a highly personal. sensitive nature, I cain't be tellin' you what to do there... other than to get after it and get'er done. Flip that aero-plane upside down, turn the smoke on, cross the controls up and get it into a flat spin, then get your passenger to bare her shoulders and also show a little leg, and don't drip any chocolate syrup on the upholstery. Then hit PRINTSCREEN. That's how we do it, up here.

Get Irfanview, open the picture with Irfan view, go to Image -> Resize/Resample, give it a Width of 800 and make sure that "Preserve Aspect Ratio" is checkmarked (Height should be at about 600)......Hit OK, if you're happy with the results go to File -> Save as, and save as file type "JPG - JPEG Files" with whatever name. Also, note that JPG files have built-in compression for keeping the file size small, which you have to do sometimes, and there's a slider to adjust compression vs. quality (more compression equals less quality). I keep mine set to, oh, about 94 or 95, depending.

Ya might also first resize it to 1024 x 768 first and save that seperately, since wining pix (I think, according to the rules) for the calander are s'posed to be 1024 x 768 but entries are s'posed to be 800 x 600. So I make two versions of each picture in case no one enters another picture for a whole month and I somehow win. Save it.

Uplaod it to photobucket or here and also submit the thing in the dadburn contest.

If none of that works keep trying, you'll get it, we all had to figure it out even without world-class help like this.

The only thing you cant do is modify the picture with a paint program (no touch-ups or edits) so make sure the girl is wearing a good shade of lipstick. Any other problems, you're gonna have to be specific about help because you're getting down to the short hairs.

Be patient, it's an art. Thus, the contest.
