The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

No problem. BTW, you can update the registry with the s/n for his M3 Lee: #4540.

Okay, I was just a little surprised a vanilla M3 would have such a high SN - but thats without any offhand knowledge of how many vehicles were in each run...

Neil, remember that the "modifications" to the M3 and M4 medium should have actually had "B - alternate construction" designators so there's nothing really sequential about the serials.

Very Nice Chris,
Wonder why some one stenciled 90mm on the left front sponson box???

Very low number, Newark Delaware tank. Been rebuilt at least 3 times if not more. Has just about all the latest upgrades for an A0 before they retired them. If this old girl could talk it would tell a very long tale, probably one of the last to get retired based on all the newer items seen on her.

Thanks Chris

No problem. I don't know anything about its service life but it does have a story regarding its addition to Mr. Littlefield's collection.
For those who have never visited his place, Jacques Littlefield lives in the Santa Cruz mountains about 30 miles south of San Francisco. To get to his place, you have to drive about six miles or so on a narrow and winding 2 lane road. For a car, its no problem with only one or two short sections of it forcing you into 2nd gear. However a truck driver hauling a 60 ton tank up the road may think otherwise.

Anyway, to make a long story short, the trucker who was hauling this particular M60 chickened out Shocked at the beginning of the road. Luckily, the 60 was still a runner and Mr. Littlefield was able to drive it up to his property with an escort from the local sheriff's department. Needless to say, he was very happy about the opportunity to do that. Smile

I'll take some pics of the road on my next visit to give you guys a better idea of what the drive looks like.
