Post subject: Required Scenery

While nosing around in Flightsim.com for good freeware mesh scenery for our flights, I ran into the absolutely AWESOME Glacier Bay files. Far more than just a great mesh, it's a complete package with upgraded airports, landclass, textures, extra bush airfields, camps and a great gob of superb eye candy!! We can keep busy in there for at least a year without ever flying the same adventure twice Mr. Green .

It comes in two large files and is at Flightsim.com and AVSIM. The files to search for are:

glbayv2a.zip
glbayv2b.zip

Download and install both files. Please read and follow these instructions excerpted from page 12 of the Glacier Bay manual:

TMVL
To experience the full detail of the LOD10 (38m) terrain mesh and avoid water crawling up shorelines in various places you need to set TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL to 20, in the [TERRAIN] section of the FS9.cfg file (the default value is 19). Glacier Bay is optimized for a value of 20.
The FS9.cfg file is hidden by default so you first need to check the "view hidden files and folders" option in Explorer, using Tools > Folder Options > View.
For Windows XP users the fs9.cfg file is located in [Drive_Letter]:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9 and for Windows 9x users in [Drive_Letter]:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9.

Due to the fine programming in MSFS, you may have to do this more than once to get the change to 'take' and work properly. This really does make a huge difference in the appearance of the terrain, so it's highly recommended.

Also, in the Glacier Bay Configurator software that ran at the end of the installation, there was an option to make inland lakes and rivers freeze. This should be disabled now, at this time of year. We'll reactivate it in November. The Configurator can be found under *Start* *All Programs* *FS Addons*.

Thanks for your interest in the Bush Flights, and I hope to see you online
