Post subject: M4A3E2 at Fort Riley, Kansas

I am new to this site. I found it while searching for information on several Tamiya issues of Italieri kits I have come across recently. That took me to Armorama and Surviving Panzers both of which mentioned this site which seemed the appropriate place to ask my question. Does anyone know what happened to the M4A3E2 that used to be in front of The Calvary Museum at Fort Riley? In the 1970s it and an M75 were on one side of the building And an early M48 and late version M16 halftrack on the other side. I spent a lot of time climbing on and photographing this particular Sherman. After some research I figured out it was an M4A3E2 Jumbo with the 75mm. It had at least one of every type of roadwheel ever used on the VVSS.One of the idlers had spokes. It had obviously received parts from many donors I learned many details from that tank and built a replica in the 70s. I didn't get to Fort Riley much in the 80s, returning in 1989 for my fathers funeral(he is buried on the Fort) and when I went to visit "my" Sherman I was surprised to find it was gone, as was the M75. In the M75's old place was an M4A3E8 in pretty good condition. I am always glad to meet a new Sherman but I missed my old friend and wonder to this day what became of it. I saw a picture on surviving panzers of an M75 at Fort Riley in a different location near an M8 greyhound they didn't have when I was there last.Does anyone know what happened to the Jumbo and where it is now? Did I mention I love Shermans? Anyway, thanks in advance for any info and its nice to find other treadheads. M7
