The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

T48 pilot, yes, not an M48, but one of the pilot tanks:

I'm not so sure it's a pilot - I don't suppose you managed to get the serial number from it? I could only see it from a distance. This is what I wrote for its entry - my guess is they call it a T48 because that's what's written on the data plate (and US vehicles often get an official designation only a long time after initial manufacture):

Unique ID 1562: Bovington M48

Is that a number you saw yourself? That would certainly make it an early vehicle. Can anyone else shed light on this (Kurt? JoeD?)?

I've got the number from Neil, but I am pretty sure I checked it by myself too.

Perfect. Thanks!

Unfortunately I have almost no pictures of the Centurion ARV and very few shots covering Chieftain AVRE. They were both behind a fence.
