M4A2 HVSS in Murmansk area?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: M4A2 HVSS in Murmansk area?



Trevor Larkum said that "There are 21 tanks identified there in Preserved Tanks in Russia (pages 72-3), including an IS-2M fitted with a KV-2 turret with replica mantlet, and two IS-2M's fitted with replica KV-1 turrets and guns. One of the more interesting vehicles is a Sherman with a hatch in the glacis plate (a la T-34). The implication is that these vehicles have mostly been mocked up, perhaps for a film."

Is this Sherman tank still in Murmansk, or was it moved or scrapped?
I'd like to find a bit more about this one, was it modified to serve as a snowplow or to push wagons for the Soviet railways company, like the one on the black and white picture?
