German soldiers going on leave, helmets?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: German soldiers going on leave, helmets?

Hi Guys-
While considering how to populate my Baluard passenger car, I started to wonder, would a German soldier heading home on leave still be wearing his metal helmet? I am aware that caps, peaked and wedge type, existed, I am just wondering what the rule would be on this?

With thanks-

Geoff,

he'd have the helmet with him and probably attached to his pack, while usually wearing whatever soft hat he'd been issued with.

Cheers,

Jens O.
