Skeleton Tank..
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I agree with Doug. I must have missed that thread (and I don't think I've missed many in the last few years)

On the otherhand I have a hard time believing that a one of the kind prototype would have been sent on an operational mission, especially with the Marine Corps

It does seem extremely unlikely - but weirder stuff has happened.

It's important to remember that if tanks were used in Nicaragua, they were used in ones and twos and did not contribute in any way to the outcome of the war against Sandino.

As easy as it is to discount it as a crackpot idea, part of the fun of being so interested in AFVs is the possibilities behind their history. Did you know that, supposedly, the Afghans were using their FT-17's operationally right up until the Russian-Afghanistan war, and may have actually used them to fight the Russians? A WWI tank going against Soviet armor!! Now, that seems extremely unlikely, and truth be told, I've never seen proof of that, but it's a darn interesting idea to mull over.
