M36B1 interior pictures........
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Another question - Is Cecelia Stratton the director at 4th ID museum that you are working with Jeff?

Neil

The Tank Destroyer in the article is called an M36. As is sometimes typical, the exact nomenclature is not used, for whatever reason. The Patton Museum has but one Tank Destroyer of the M36 'family'. It is in fact, the M36B1, which came from Bosnia.

I know the M36B1 here, as I think I have mentioned to you before.

The M36B1 in the collection, and I, have some past history together.

I have a copy of the 1999 visit to the weapon storage site located near Han Pjiasak in the R.S. (Bosnian enclave).

The purpose of the visit was to conduct a face-to-face meeting with the Sites Bosnian Serb Commander and to finalize arrangements for the Tank Destroyers to be transported to the Croatian port and eventually the U.S..

At the time I assumed that 'We' (1st CAV DIV) would possess one of the Bosnian vehicles to symbolize active participation in SFOR 4 & SFOR 5. It went to 4ID....????

There was some mention of either M10's or M18's during that same period, but I don't know of any first hand information of that.

I left Bosnia in Sept 99. Our relief was by 10th Mtn units who shutdown Camp Demi within a few months of our departure.

Regards
Don

Okay, so its a case of erroneous picture label - which pretty much leads to the question what happened to that M36?

Yes, Celia is the 4ID museum director. Do you know her?
