Roy Lingle's armor models
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Quite an improvement on the original eyesore.. 1/24 is a nice scale to work on.

Hi Jens! Hi Folks!

Thank You Jens! Smile I think I used the kit instructions and Testors paints.

I am not real clear on British colors. Is the brown to dark or should there be a third color on there?

Very interested!
Sgt, Scouts out!

Actually, it should be more tan, let me check Mike Starmer's book and I'll get back to you.

Wow! You're relentless, Jens! Laughing

Oh, I've been called worse... Laughing

Since you're such a gentleman I'll make a freundschaftliches Ãœbereinkommen with you: I'll post these pics if you'll let me hide behind my modest nature. Mr. Green

You may stay hidden from now on... Wink Heck, I would've settled for some of your older features, but at least the Franklin Mint-incident has now been cleared. Laughing Thanks Bob, always nice to see one of the masters in action, so to speak.

- A-109E
And now, Jens, my fine virtual friend, we all want to see some of your modeling efforts. All in favor, say "Aye!" ...heheheh.

Since you insist, here are a few odds and sods, some pretty old (but complete), some still in the works, all in 1/87:

Most recent, still in need of some TLC and markings, a Lynx II:

Currently on the workbench, along with a T-72, a Pz III Ausf J, an M1101 trailer, a PT-76, BRDM-2, BMD-2, StuG IV and a FV 432 Mk I:

Fire away, gentlemen, and allow me to hide by modest nature from now on as well.

Hmmmm, very nice! Are these from the Roco Minitanks series, Jens? And tell us more about the base. Is this a small diorama or a larger platform on the order of a model railroad layout?

Yes,

the Murican stuff and the Tiger are Roco Minitanks, the Lynx II is a resin kit by a Greek company named Bellifortis (also has various CMP 15cwts, a Marmon-Herrington Mk II, an M24, currently he's working on the Staghound) and the T-55 is by the Czech company sdv.

The base was one of our interim bases when doing shows and has since been replaced by better ones. Our final show for this year will be in mid-September at the great modelling show for the benefit of the German Child Cancer Society, I'll take some pics and post them here, if folks are interested.

Hi Folks!

Here are some more of my finished kits. I have given up on cutting photos out of the Glue. I think the problem is
I don't have the enough of the right software. These are photos I took with a very cheap camera.

My slowly growing D-Day, June 6, 1944 collection:

Tamiya's M4A0 with Verlinden wading trunks and M1 dozer kit. The look is base on a new vehicle that has never been used,
is wet from rain and has been setting on a landing craft for a few days.
Did you folks know that on D-Day, the 610th Engineer (Light) Company landed on Omaha beach with four bulldozer tanks?
The 612th Engineer (Light) Company landed on Utah with two?
Many books report that all three tank battalions were each issued six dozer tanks for D-Day while at the same time report that sixteen landed at Omaha while eight landed at Utah. It took many years of reading to find out why the count was different. It's was those two Engineer Companies which were issued six dozer tanks for D-Day.

One of my very few small scale kits. I first picked it up with the idea that I would try to use it as a template to scratch build a
1/35 scale version. I now have all the after market kits to do one, I just need to get buzy and get it done.

Scratch build wading trunks and extended exhaust pipes for D-Day.

BT-5 Command tank. I have thing for odd ball tanks.

At display shows, many people are surpised by this one. People can't believe there was a motorcycle halftrack.

This is the Italeri Elephant, backed dated to a Ferdinand long before DML put a kit out. I had no pictures of the roof and had to guess what the top hatchs looked like. I was very close.

M-60A0 (first issue type) One of my first conversion projects. Used a Monogram M48A2 turret with a lot of M60 parts.

This is another conversion I did for a "What If" club contest. I leave it to you CIA agents to figure out just what it is? No fair left clicking on the picture! Twisted Evil

Now that's enough of my kits, lets see some of you other CIA agents show off your hobby efforts.

M4E4 or M4A2E4 but also fitted with a modified M36 turret closed in with an armoured roof. I'm not sure wether the engine deck is for an A2 or some other varient but the suspension is defintly the torsion bar and 24" track tested on the E4 variants (but they only had regular 75mm turrets) (Chamberlain & Ellis page 129)

Bob has been studing the Sherman! The kit is the Italeri M36B2 tank destoryer which makes the hull an A3 variant.

The suspension is what I though the E4 torsion bar system might have looked like before I saw some good drawings and pictures of the real thing. I figured that if a 90mm Sherman was fielded, it should have the wider 24" track with the E8 or something like the E4 system to help with the extra weight and make it a bit more stable. Hulls with the E8 was done, so that was something that was do-able.

The US did field M4A3 hulls with the M36 90mm turret to tank destoryer battalions. Again something that was do-able.

The "what if" part is putting a roof on the open turret and issuing them to tank battalions.

That would make what I call a M4A3E4 90mm Sherman! Razz
