~S~ All,

There are great men who we have all heard about through media, then there are GREAT MEN who's name you will never find printed in a book or mentioned in the news. You will find the legacy of these men permanently imprinted in the hearts of the people they have touched.

August 17th, Christopher Cromie, also known as CC_Pine, lost his battle with cancer and took the hand of God passing through to sit by his side.

Pine was an icon in CFS and part of the backbone in the creation of Joint-Ops. For the longest time, he was the Commanding Officer of the 52nd Close Combat Squadron (CC) in CFS. He is responsible for numerous aircraft panel designs widely used in the game. He was also one of the 3 creators of Joint-Ops which has always promoted giving help to those who need it with no expectation in return. Chris Cromie was the example of that statement. He gave everything of himself anytime anybody needed it with no complaint, no expectations, and accepting no credit. He was fondly known as "The Voice". He had this distinctive sound that, when heard, you knew there was only one person behind it. It was calming and informative.

We have lost a great man in our lives and he will be missed dearly. Our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. If anybody wishes any further information concerning Pine, please feel free to contact me at fifties @ joint-ops.com

We salute you brother.........~!S!~

Fifties,
My condolences go out to you, his best friend, and to his family and friends in this this time of grief. I was priveleged to count myself as one of them, and for me, Pine/ Chris will be sorely missed. He was one of those unsung heros that was there for anyone that needed him, and he did it without any thought to anything in return. Thank you for posting this message.

May you forever fly with the angels Pine!

Ah,

this is exactly the kind of news I would never want to find here.

You might say that meeting people through the internet, even though in the name of a common interest, is never like meeting in flesh and bones. And in spite of this, it seems to me that even through apparently limited means you can anyway perceive the nature and attitude of persons by the opposite side of the line.

I remember I flew at least a couple of times together with Pine, and many more he attended to events I was taking part into, and what Fifties says is true: you could tell him from dozens of pilots because of that distinctive voice which seemed there to smooth every problem and solve any trouble.

It is not rethoric saying this is a huge loss for the flight sim community, even beyond the boundaries of the Joint Operations Flight School.

My thoughts now go to his family and his dears, and to the friends who had the benefit to be closer to him - if this news beat me down this way, I try to imagine what can it be for them.

Marco
