Pics from Germany in the `70s.
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I posted up an album of pics from my first tour in Germany, `76-`79. For those of you who were there, have a good laugh at some of the raggedy stuff we ran arond in.

Well, a lot of it looks familiar to me...M551's, M113's, M578's, M151's...our stuff was "newer", yet more "raggedy", in it's own way.... Laughing

Nice pics!

You know the funny thing, Mark, that's one of the most viewed pics in the album. Must be a lot of people who remember them. Also, notice the very cool "Graf" hat.

I lived in K-town ( as a dependant ) from 73-76, then moved to Wiesbaden from 76-77.

In 76 ( I believe) I was at the Grand opening of the McDonalds in Downtown Wiesbaden.

( "Bitte, ein BIG MAC und pommes mit ein bier" Mr. Green )

It was the 2nd to be opened in Germany. The famous 'first one' being in Munich. Where was the third??

I don't know when it opened but ate in the one in Frankfurt in 78. Trip to by a turntable for a buddy to the Frankfurt PX from Fulda. Here is my brand new M60A1 RISE PASSIVE, in the Downs Barracks motor pool.

Where was the third?

Wurzburg. Home of DIV HQ for 3ID. If anything needed to be run up to DIV, there were always plenty of hands raised. A little O/T, Don, but I've got a bunch of Ontos pics yet to scan. Think it's one out at APG, can't remember.

When I get them scaned, they'll be posted up on our site at KCAMPS. I'll post a link.
