USMC M60 Tanks?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Saw a picture of a tank ID'd as USMC M60 (A0). Did they use them or go straight to the A1?

Nope,

Seen quite a few A3 displays also claiming to be USMC.

IIRC they went from M48A3's to M60A1's, The M60 (Slick/A0) didn't serve very long on active duty, being classified as a "Type B" tank, rapidly replaced by the A1 as soon as they came out. The turret was pretty much an interim design being used to quickly field the 105mm gun, with the later A1 turret being much better protected in shape and thickness. What was not well known was the hull armor on them was thinner both on the front slope by little over half an inch and one inch on the sides. Making those hulls generally unacceptable for A1/A3 conversion.

BTW where's that tank at?

Thanks, Joe. That's what I thought too. Tank is at St Robert, Mo. by Fort Leanord Wood. More pictures at www.flickr.com/photos/...147755234/

That's an early M60 turret, lifting rings are in the M48 turret spot and not the m60A1 spot. I think the Marines played with the M103A2 somewhere between the M48A3 and M60A1.
