M47s - For Trevor
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Trevor,

Bad news. When I started looking through my pics, there are actually three M47s at Chiriaco Summit.

Next to the front fence:

The%20serial%20on%20this%20one%20was%20on%20the%20front%20tow%20lug,%20but%20was%20mostly%20illegible.%20%209xx45%20was%20all%20of%20the%20number%20I%20could%20decipher. Inside%20the%20grounds: The%20serial%2061274%20was%20on%20the%20rebuild%20plate. And%20this%20one%20was%20outside%20the%20fence%20in%20back,%20with%20the%20dying%20M60A1s:

I couldn't find any serial # on this sled, but I don't recall looking too hard. It was getting dark and I was trying to hurry through all the M60A1s parked around the back.

These are also all in my album.

Chuck

Thanks, Chuck! I've started an entry for Chiriaco and added these photo's, plus information from this and other threads on this forum:

Pictures of the other vehicles there also gratefully appreciated.

I'm really enjoying all these M47 pics. Loved the tank ever since the movie Battle of the Bulge came out. Razz

That's great to hear!

Chuck, please give me dates for when those pictures were taken, they seem to have no date information in them. Thanks.

These were taken in November of 2006.

If I have time, next time I'm past there I'll try to update on what is still there.

That would be great (btw, I'm about to go away for a few days, so I'll finish Chiriaco when I get back).

Thanks - dates fixed. I've also added some pictures (with reuse rights) I found on Flickr.
