Gallantry award - off topic
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Gallantry award - off topic

There's an interesting story in the papers in Holland at the moment about a Dutch officer who was awarded the highest Dutch military honour in 2009 for service in Afghanistan, the first time the award had been made in over 50 years. It seems that for various reasons, unconnected with his bravery in battle, he may be stripped of the award. This all seems wrong as no one is doubting what he did to win the award. Mind you I think it has happened once to a Victoria Cross winner back in Victorian times who fell on hard times.

Tim,
