The History of Racing Tanks
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: The History of Racing Tanks

Fans of the great Stan Mott and his many contributions to Road & Track in years past (and, in particular, the saga of the "Cyclops" racer with the "World's First V1 Engine!") will recognize the style. Stumbled on this by accident, but if you recall his work, you'll want to explore the site. I still have some of those old issues ("Cyclops at the Targa Florio").

Note this section opens with a reference to the "original" Skeleton Tank (not unlike the one at APG, which is mentioned). I especially like the "Christie-Cunningham LeMans Sporttank, 1962"

The History Of Tanks

More of the old "Cyclops" from R&T days...

More Cyclops history....
