T55?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

What indicates that it is a type 59 vs. T-55? My hat is off to your ID'ing skills!

I'd hold off on your praise, since he got it wrong. It's a T55. If it's a Type 59, where is the round ventaltor that should be on top of the turret? T54s and Type 59/69s would have that. It's a T55 that is missing the bore evacuator at the end of the gun barrel. Also it has the chamfer along the bottom of the turret that T55s have and T54s Type 59s don't have. Antenna mounts mean nothing, since they can be added or removed on any T type tank.
