New (Japanese) displays at Poklonnaya Gora, Moscow
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I doubt P-O meant to belittle his sacrifices. On the other hand, that level of decoration display is somewhat over-the-top, by western standards, anyway.

America's most decorated serviceman of the 20th century (probably) Robert L. Howard, generally posed only in ribbons, and that that one medal around his neck was all he really needed (for which he was recommended three times, but you can only be awarded the MOH once per lifetime, so the other two were downgraded to DSC's).

Maybe he "liberate" east of Poland after 17th September 1939, Bessarabia from Romenia or Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia in 1940 too ?
For many people the WWII didn't start when Germany invaded their countries but when their countries received brotherhood help from Soviet Union and Red Army Sad

Here the armour is discussed or unsubstantiated imaginations on a historical theme?

Ai, careful lads, many of us do realise that the "liberation" of many countries (not just east of the Oder!) is still somewhat of a sore point.
The old lad certainly has a good array of medals, can anyone name them all?
Is he a naval veteran?

I take it we are talking about the period when the soviets were allies of nazi germany?

If you want to read about Podgurski - welcome (russian only, hehe)
www.podgourski.net/con.../2316.html

Please, without clowns in thread, peoples with historical frustration looks not too clever. If anyone start to cry about 1939 invasion, better to remember about Zaolzie 1938 parade, for example.

I suggest to end the historical-political subtopic. I shouldn't have started it. Sorry.

The exposition looks great.
What Japanese guns are on the new exposition ?

Are there plans for recovery and renovation of the rest of Kuril Islands tanks?
