Post subject: October 30th Sunday flight

In just one hop we'll cross two borders, from Yukon back to British Columbia, to land in Alaska - to better appreciate the landscape, we'll fly on a slower kite we know already very well: Milton's Beechcraft.

Please note that at Juneau the second runway is on water - there are several such "strips" in that area Mr. Green

Thanks to Bullet's heads up, since this flight we have one more means for helping our orienting around: you'll see here below a pic taken with the Google Earth proggy, and a "kml" file is included in the usual package for you to enjoy.

#45 CYQH – Watson Lake (Canada) -> PAJN – Juneau Intl (Alaska – USA)
Overall distance: 274,1 nm.
Estimated time: 1:28 h.

CYQH
ZW (Teslin) - no VOR - NDB 269,0 kHz - HDG 244° - leg 117,0 nm.
YSQ (Atlin) - no VOR - NDB 260,0 kHz - HDG 191° - leg 43,5 nm.
DEEJA - Intersection - HDG 194° - leg 59,4 nm.
CHILL - Intersection - HDG 182° - leg 20,0 nm.
D326P - Intersection - HDG 147° - leg 10,4 nm.
LYNNS - Intersection - HDG 097° - leg 8,6 nm.
CGL - no VOR - NDB 212,0 kHz – HDG 062° - leg 12,0 nm.
PAJN - no VOR - NDB 332,0 kHz – HDG 063° - leg 3,2 nm.
elevation: 19 ft.
runways:
8 – asphalt – 8.435 ft. – ILS IJDL – 109,900 MHz – 062°
26 – asphalt – 8.435 ft. – no ILS
8W – water – 4.900 ft. – no ILS
26W – water – 4.900 ft. – no ILS

Aircraft: Beechcraft D18
Cruise speed: 180 KIAS
Cruise altitude: 12.000 ft.
Weather: real
Time: 15:00 local – 23:00 GM

The package including flight plan, bigger map, kml file for Google Earth and text file with navigation data can be downloaded here:

Wow, astounding plane with a gorgeous panel - how's its virtual cockpit?
Beyond that, I hope weather won't be exactly "clear sky" tomorrow, just to increase the excitement a bit: do you remember when we had to land blindly in the solid fog, just driven but our ATC?
Cool

Attention, please!

Tonight here in Europe (I believe in all of Europe) we moved our clocks a hour back, 'cause we switched back to solar time. As I'm not sure if this happens also in the USA and Canada, we should check this now, to avoid to miss each other this evening.

Thank you!

Indeed last night the clock went back one hour, so we are back to GMT +1 and our english friends are back to their normal GMT.

If the clocks in the USA and Canada didn't go back then the flight will start one hour later as the normal time overthere ! Laughing

if you still are confused, get the Breitling proggy and you'll know what time it's where !! Wink

www.breitling.com/en/misc/bwt/

catch ya later !!:D

Well, the only thing I know about time today is it's time to get my kids halloween costume done. This year, he decided wanted to go as...a LEMON. I have no idea why. But after we drew up the sketch, with one of those "The Scream" masks for a face (you, know, the one with the long open screaming mouth) it looks pretty hilarious.

So we've been working down in the basement with a bunch of foam and ducttape - now spray-painting...it's gonna be a while.....

Well, it was funny, and the final approach in the snow was just a bit of thrill but not real trouble, proof be that I managed to get down in one piece Wink
A special welcome to Spanky, who joined us for the first time - hope you enjoyed the flight Smile

Here are some of the pics I took; note into the second one by which means I take proper separation from followers: rear gunner hidden behind Wink

WOW!

Rodion - I'm DYING to know what you video settings are. I'm running an ATI PCI800XL vid card and know it's capable of looking like that, or should be for what it cost and has....man what is your secret?

Lol - not made purportedly, though it can seem as I did.
At a certain point my connection collapsed, and when I connected again, I discovered the trail of the exhaust smoke effect was, so to speak, "enlived" by christmas lights! It really looks like I'm shooting back to the mates, but at first glance I thought I was on fire! Laughing

I have a Radeon 9600, and FS9 settings are almost all pushed forward to the maximum. I can't say which are the video-card settings exactly, but if you want to know, I can check it and report.
