An e-mail campaign designed to lure people to a bogus Microsoft Web site is making the rounds as part of an attempt to install a Trojan horse, antivirus company Sophos said Friday.

Attackers are sending out fake e-mails that claim to come from Microsoft's Windows Update. People who click on the link in the message are steered to a site that looks like Microsoft's security update site, where they are urged to download fake patches.

yup, recieved several of them bogey so-called Microsoft security updates.

added 'm to the blocked senders list and that's the end of it....................for now.

Only thing that really helps is a good firewall and a good anti virus software on your system and be very alert on all kind of phony messages that you get, set your mail explorer to never open mail and in case of doubt delete it and block the sender.
Another thing is to have as less as possible of programs running around in the background and put some effort in configuring firewall router ports and that sorta stuff.
Alltough sometimes very tiresome and tidieus work to figure out how it all works, in case of doubt just ask the questions here and there allways be someone that can help you out to get it set right.
