Hello All,

Located at the NYNG Armory in Buffalo, NY is M60 SN 215, and a 1918 155mm Schneider Howitzer. The AFV Register also lists an M42 and M48 at this location but there was no sign of them.

Looks like a Slick M60, not an A3

Looks like they moved this M60 to where the M42 was. The M48 was an A5 with the "Urdan" style cupola. Wonder where they went.

Didn't all A5s have the low profile cupola?

Silviop15,

Not all M48A5's had the Israeli "Urdan" cupola. The first 375 produced from M48A3's still had the M1 enclosed cupola with the vision block riser. These tanks also did not come with a loaders M60D MG. Here is a picture of one courtesy of Neil Baumgardner.

M48A5 A3008.

Of these early M48A5's many later on eventually got the newer low profile cupola and loaders M60D. This one located in Washington DC is one of the very few left. Foreign users also had M48A5's that used the Chrysler TT cupola as found on the original T48/M48.

Looks like the same cupola used on the MOD B M48A3?

Yes it is to include the very limited ammunition capacity of 50 rounds. Not exclusive to Mod B tanks. Many were upgraded without all the other mods. First Gen M48A3's utilized many M60 components, whereas the later BMY produced "Mod B" and upgraded A3's used M60A1 parts.
