Where Is This?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Tanker 2010 hit right on target! HQ 1st Inf Div is at Wurzburg. Here's some overhead pictures. Looks like a perfect match to me.

Back in August of `76 when I first got there it was 3IDs HQ. That's kind of weird to see it again after all this time.

Well, that's what we called it when I was at Riley.

I think every unit I have ever served in has a common expression like yours. I however would only use those expressions when talking to an ex-member, of the same time frame, face to face. Someone who would understand it. Expressions change with time and during this period of war, some just don't sound as good as they did in the passed.

For the record:
1st Bn (Light) 63rd Armor, 1st Infantry Division, Ft Riley KS, 1968-1969 and we didn't use that term back then.
