Where is the British Abrams?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Where is the British Abrams?

Lesley Delsing's latest Europe wrecks & relics update reminded me of a good question... The US Army TACOM Central Registry says that the British MoD has an M1 Abrams (SN 983). The City is listed as "London England," but I suspect thats merely MoD HQ... So, assuming its not in a basement in Whitehall, where is this Abrams???

Trevor, any ideas?

Dennis, is this Abrams hidden away at Bovington somewhere perhaps?

Sorry, I don't know where it is. I visited Chobham a few years back, and they had a few vehicles squirrelled away (like a Challenger for environmental testing) so I wouldn't be surprised if it's at a testing base like that somewhere.

I wonder if this particular Abrams was the one offered for the Chieftain Replacement Programme - which became Challenger 2.
