...and speaking of the "King", this was from what was, at the time, the fastest selling album in history. Wasn't overtaken until "Frampton Comes Alive" six years later, if I recall correctly. This version is better than the original. Nice bass and piano. More than just a "nice Jewish girl".

Let's talk smack....water.

Not a bad lookin' band on the whole, either.

...from the smokin' hot side of R&R, it's the Wilson chicks...

Cookin' with you-know-what....

...and Ann had a fantastic voice. She fluffed up like Linda Ronstadt in later years, but was incredible back then...and Nancy could actually play...

Eye and Ear Candy....

...and one of the most heavily modulated tunes ever committed to vinyl, which is the only way to hear it...if you couldn't a' been there....(at about 2 minutes you better be in reach of volume control, which should be up anyway) Mr. Green

The Happy Warrior....gawd, he (they) was good....

...usually you hear jams like this on crappy pirate tapes, this one has sound quality....Donna Jean blows but it's about the instrumental breaks and solos anyway.

Scarlet Begonias

But wait!....TOTALLY BOOTLEGGED!

This one's better, no video, Donna Jean mixed low, piano high....

Ramble On!

...and forget the video, he's just dodging the 'Tube police. Best LZ song ever...

And now, for something completely different....

The Ballad of Casey Deiss

...For Mike.

"Twas a man of youthful features
Twas a boy of sorrowful eyes
Watching out but looking inward
Tall and stately and full of life

In his life he spoke but rarely
In his mind he cried for light
Painting perceptions trying to capture
That which he saw in his questioning strife

Once in Lisbon, twice in London
Travelling around for all of his time
Looking for and finding a goddess
He took Diana to be his wife

Of the children they'd begotten
Two had died without knowing life
And the third I know not whereof
But if she lives, she will yet be kind

Casey had a mark of simple value
He had a star between his eyes
In his hands he held an axe blade
The Greek symbol of thunder and fire

On a night when the heavens were crying
He went down and took his blade
Chopping wood to warm his hearthside
The lightning came and my brother died

Bring him no wine from faraway vineyards
Tell him no tales of the canyon's might
But wish him peace and eternal wisdom
For he has died and he died in light"

The original is great, too, but this one is pretty special...

Welcome To The Canteen (you know the rest)

The Players:

Steve Winwood, Rick Grech, Dave Mason, Jim Gordon, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood & "Reebop" Kwaku Baah.

Not a bad lineup...

One of the lesser known DS songs, and maybe the best off of the lesser known "Making Movies"....

The video sucks, but the audio quality is good. Great driving song...

Skateaway

...and more from that German TV music show "Rockpalast"...

Not usually a fan, but she tears this song up better than the original (the originator being in the video). About a minute of setup BS, but that's how they did things back in '85...

Beast of Bette....
