While catching up on the latest riots in the UK, I came across this article online about the son of David Gilmour.

What I found more interesting though was further down in the article and the bit about the song "When the Tigers Broke Free" from the Pink Floyd album The Final Cut being written about an attack by Tiger tanks in which the father of Roger Waters was killed. It may be common knowledge but it was new to me and may be interesting for others.

As a 'die-hard' Pink Floyd Fan,.......

'When the Tigers Broke Free' is one of the songs from the Movie 'The Wall'. It was the only song not released on Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' double album.

As you may know "The Wall" was a concept album that was supposed to have been a tribute story of Syd Barrett and his life. An original member of the band that had to quit due to becoming mentally insane.

I didn't know it was Roger Waters Father who had been killed in WWII

Years later, the song was released aa a single. It was also included on a greatest hits release years after that.

The Final Cut album did not include the song. The music off this album was music that had been written following 'The Wall' and was given the title to indicate that it was Pink Floyd's last album. They disbanded, following its release.

I've always loved the song, and have it in the released '45' version as well as on the greatest hits release. Its one of the many songs of Pink Floyds that I have memorized all the words, and have been known to sing (without warning...!?)
