Actually, the Bee Gees impersonation video reminded me of the Geico Cavemen. Smile

LMAO! Yes, it does have a striking resemblance!

That's killer! Loved it!

There's a Bluegrass band called Iron Horse, no doubt some of their songs may have shown up as suggested related content. I've had some MP3's of their songs for a while now, check out their version of Ozzy's "Crazy Train".

Here's their version of a particular Metallica song:

Bluegrass is always good stuff.... and IMHO represents the very pinnacle of talent on the stringed instruments. I avoid posting any of it because as an erstwhile surf guitarist, I am deeply humbled and downright embarrassed in comparison to how those guys play.

Saw this last night on cable and not sure if anyone else has seen it but a great little documentary about Los Angeles session musicians and the music they helped create during the 50's and 60's.

www.wreckingcrewfilm.com/

I finally caught this on Netflix, and all I can say is WOW - quite a kick to watch!

Don't know if you remember it but Tommy Tedesco also had a regular spot in Guitarist magazine, on the last page, I believe called Coda. He talked about doing session work but never or seldom in the past tense relating to any of those hits he played on. So it was a real eye-opener about a name I already knew.

And Carol Kaye - wow!!!!

Awesome! PLUS, it has that patented Sergio Leone three-way standoff at the end with lots a' starin!

Can't believe I missed this one. Primus was very cool for the time and have a couple of their CD's. Les is an excellent Bass player.

The song that turned me on to them.

Can't believe I missed your response either!

Fully agree re: the impressive skills of Mr. Claypoole. "John the Fisherman" was my first exposure to them back in the 90's. Still love that song. Primus kinda falls into the same realm as Frank Zappa in my mind. Amazing musicianship skills, tho far enough away form the mainstream that they don't get a lot of recognition.

One more from them just to continue the Sergio Leone theme...

* * * SPECIAL SLOVAKIAN SURF EDITION * * *

Just when you thought things had settled down on the Croatian Instro Surf-Rock scene, along come these guys... not only do they have excellent taste in musical gear correct for the period, but they have a true feel for the genre and their bass player is much more than a tasty-looking centerpiece for the band. Plus, it can't be easy to get those heavy-gauge Jazz style strings and parts for your vintage amps in a country that's been torn by warfare.

Here is a 30-minute feature of them on Croatian TV show "Garaza" (Garage, I'm guessing?)... open it in a new tab if you like, grab a drink and enjoy it as background music.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay0REKua0-A

There's a couple of interview segments, you can skip to 7:19 and 18:05 unless you like watching the bass player talk, and who would blame you. My brain tends to hear some occasional "bedroom" words in her speech, I could swear she says "nipple" a couple of times, but, I.... digress... I've been groovin' this band for a few months now and something about their music just gets tastier and tastier. Salut!

Sooooooo I just happened to run across this and thought I'd share, in case anyone wants to make MP3's of some of these awesome Tracks Of The Day that are in yonder past pages, for posterity and further listening pleasure.

www.listentoyoutube.com

Give it the URL for a youtube video (starting with www.youtube and ending with the code in the URL for the video) and it will convert it to an MP3 and let you download it.

Rather handy although for testing purposes only since anything else could theoretically be construed as mischief...

Was very good! Although truth be told I have a hard time watching Tommy Emmanuel play anything due to his overdone (IMO) facial expressions... but that's just me. Great to listen to tho, thanks!
