I am pleased to announce the latest AFV Register addition, The Belgium AFV Register by Michel van Loon and myself.

You can download this new register at

216.176.92.62/afv/Belgium_AFVs.pdf

One observation I came away with was that Belgium must have the highest Sherman Firefly per capita in the world! I count 11 Sherman Fireflies, not including range wrecks...

That plus some interesting Panthers of course, and combat veteran Shermans in Bastogne and elsewhere...

Yes, a Luxembourg AFV Register should be on the horizon, plus perhaps a Netherlands Register (I had originally intended to do a Benelux Register)...

But first I'm doing another update for the USA AFV Register - yes, with GPS coordinates this time...

Neil

well, I don't know why but when I try to browse either the USA or the Belgium AFVs register, the link seems not to work, the browser tells me that the document was not found..

Hmmm.... 216.176.92.62/Belgium_AFVs.pdf doesnt work? Maybe with the http in front?

The IP used to be 216.176.92.62, but I wasnt able to connect to that and Shadow_Bshwackr said the ISP changed the IP...

The new address works fine for me FWIW.... Hmm...

Well

Now that the download address is fixed I'd like to take this opportunity to specifically thank Lesley Delsing and Andre Flener for their help with the Register.

Joe, no deadline yet, LOL... Send away... FWIW, I'm only on California right now in terms of going back to find coordinates...

one more update for the Belgium AFVs register :

at Braschaat Groot Schietveld fire range, there are only 2 Sherman compite hulls listed :

M4 Sherman Firefly composite USA/GBR/BEL wre SN 44441, RN 30100675; hull only 3
M4 Sherman Firefly composite USA/GBR/BEL wre SN 44533; hull only

On this webpage :

http://www.afvregister.org/M7B2/Brasschaat.htm

we can see 3 different Composite shermans (the one with the Pershing turret is not listed) :

http://www.afvregister.org/M7B2/ShermanPics/Sherman2c.jpg
http://www.afvregister.org/M7B2/ShermanPics/sherman13.jpg
http://www.afvregister.org/M7B2/ShermanPics/sherman15.jpg

and I have a question : where are located all the tanks that were removed from the fire range in 2007? There are 1 or 2 more composite with them..

There is a lot off movement at the range in Brasschaat.
The site www.afvregister.org/M7...schaat.htm hasen't been updated last year, but this is the current situation:
Sherman nr4 is currently located in Marche en Famenne.
Sherman nr3 witch is also a composite has been removed, but I don't know where. I think it will be restored or has been traded with an other museum.
Shermans nr 6, 7, 9 Are also removed, No idee where they went.
Sherman nr12 has been moved to the Nederlands I've been told.
Sherman nr15 should been scraped around this time, so I didn't include it in the register.
So a few years back there were 4 composites on the range, one scraped and one removed. One of these days I have to be in Vissenaken, maybe I can find out wat has happend with them.

thanks Michel.

Last question : the http://www.afvregister.org/ website is very slow when I try to browse it, or I simply can't access to it. Do you experience some problems?

Sadly I have the same problem, one time its acceptable another time its very slow and in about 20% off trying I can't access the site. I'm trying to find ways to make it work faster, but wasn't very succesfull yet.
