Greetings! I am in the early stages of a new project, and pose a question to the group. There is some variety of M109 (as well as a M7B2) acting as a monument outside the National Guard Armory in south Memphis, TN.

Does anyone know what version of the M109 this is? If I could figure out how to post a photo, I would.

Thanks for any and all help.

Sincerely,
David Doyle

Didn't know they were there,

Funny, since my last 6 months in the Army that was my official assignment. (Although I've never been there). I might check it out the next time I go to the VA center.

That would be great - BTW your book shipped today Joe.

If anyone on the board has access to a M109A6 and could help me with some specific photos of an A6 - which I know the one on display in Memphis is not.

Thanks,
David

David,

Send your pic to you-know-where, and I'll post. Downsized if necessary or you desire because of future project.

You know you have a free gallery here that gives you copyrights and is not hotlinkable outside the site? Go to menu bar at left, "my account", "gallery", and "upload image" (by your login) and you're set.

I assume thats not the Memphis M109 in the pic right?

Is it the armory at 2610 E Holmes Rd? Looks like they may have an M7 Priest and an M109...

Neil,

I'm gonna be in Memphis this Thursday (Another appointment) so I'll try to check them out for serial numbers if someone can tell me where to find them.

You can take Airways Blvd south - go beyond the airport. Holmes is the second major East-West street south of the airport. Turn left on Holmes, and the armory will be on your left before too long. The M109, M7B2 and captured WWII German field piece are sitting in out front - can't miss them. Probably is a way to get to it from I-55 south that is "quicker" but the route I outlined has few turns.

Best wishes,
David

Thanks David,

But I was actually asking where the serial numbers would located on those vehicles. I'm pretty familiar with the area, I documented the M60A3 at South Haven there last year and used to travel to the Baptist West hospital a lot. Besides, Graceland is right there too for all you Elvis fans Rolling Eyes . Can't believe I never heard of them before.
