...or is that "EeeeeUuuuwwww"?! (now that the constitution went belly up 57-43 in France!).

THIS is what over-regulation can do...make you forget your heritage and why, maybe, everyone isn't speaking German...

UN FRICKIN’ BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!

I wont stand for this.. *mutters*……….

This aircraft is a flying memorial; you don’t just ground these things…! Sally B has been having much trouble with funding to keep itself airborne as it is! If something isn’t done about it the group will collapse..

Everything depends on the public’s reaction to our campaign and their generosity in making donations to The B-17 Charitable Trust. But if no permanent solution is found, this will be Sally B’s last season flying in this country.

This just makes me mad.. I am honestly angry about this..... Evil or Very Mad

This is because of crippling new EU third party liability insurance requirements, based on aircraft weight, which have placed Sally B in the same insurance category as a commercial airliner. The effect is an increase in liability insurance of almost five hundred per cent, which is the equivalent of a staggering one thousand pounds extra per flying hour, on top of the already incredibly high running costs.

How terrible!!!! What the heck were these people thinking?!?

You'd think they would make an exception to a B-17!

I just don't understand how the government would go as far as grounding a B-17 just to get more money.

I have seen this kind of stuff in the States quite a bit. It is called Socialism, Fascism, and maybe u could even call it Communism. Gov,t infringing on indivdual rights.

By "States", where exactly do you mean, NS38th_Aristaeus?

I suspect it's a slur by someone who has failed to make the distinction in my post between "Europe" and the "EU". The first I like, the second is a pipe dream....and somebody got their knickers in a twist.

He's right about one thing: "Gov,t infringing on indivdual rights"....or pseudo-gov't, which is what the EU (and specifically the proposed constitutional body....which the French people WISELY put a stake through the heart of...) amounts to. People know not what they do when they sign away their sovereignty and voice to an amorphous commision....especially one that would obfuscate it's intentions with a FOUR HUNDRED AND THIRTY SEVEN page document that fewer than 1% of Europeans have actually read (understandably!). Little by little, REAL governments (and people) in Europe have ceded the right to use common sense in a matter like this to faceless commisions, whether in Belgium or elsewhere, in the quest for "parity" with the rest of the world. That's exactly how this development came to pass....the consequences are not thought through until it's too late....

And, ironically, I believe the very subject being discussed here is a plane built "In the States" as some refer to it. Just checking that this would or would not be the same place being suggested, as that wouldn't make a whole lotta sense given why said aircraft was used and for what purpose. Not to mention the people from The States who perished fighting for a cause against these very things.

I was refering to the states, the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
I am fm the STATES, (Oklahoma) and this is just the type of thing that some gov't agencies like to pull and they usually do it through a private buissnes like an insurance company, or through Fed aid programs by telling states that if they don,t pass certain laws or reg they won't get the money.

Yep...and the key phrase there is "gov't agencies"....except in this case it's a sorta' "pseudo-gov't agency" in the form of cross-border EU regulations that had implications that no one specifically forsaw...and which does not allow for discretionary application. This is what happens when one is all too eager for "government as nanny".

This is an outrage!!! So many Mothers and Fathers have lost their sons to liberate those under oppression.

It's unbelievable that some in the EU lost their memory on that fact. This just makes me sick.
