Where is the Mortarman when you need him? Didn't he post a lot of pictures back when he was stationed out there

Yeah, I'm trying to dig through Jeff's posts & pics, but it looks like most/all of those were posted on the old board Sad

I thought they were on this one. I guess Time flys when you're having fun. But another member visited him out there and I'm sure took some pictures.

I think we need to send a CIA alert out for a certain Mr Kibbey Wink

Somebody rang?

Neil,

I have quite a few pictures of vehicles there from my coupla' visits, both by myself and with Jeff Button (great host that he was). It might be simpler if I send you a CD or create some file on Sendspace or something, as I have two fairly large folders.

Those two Sheridan VISMOD's were "001" and "002", the CO and Exec's vehicles of 1/11th (not serials, but ID numbers). LTC Blackburn was the CO and was a host and presenter of my "spurs", vehicle is so marked as his.

Doug,
Like I told Alf, feel free to send me a CD via snail mail, set up your photobucket account (its free & easy!) or even just e-mail them to me like Kurt has so kindly been doing. Frankly I'd prefer #2 or #3, but e-mail/PM me if you want to do it the old fashioned way...

Wasn't there a guy named Levensailor at NTC when you made your trip out there?

Don,
I believe that is he standing to my left. Made my desert joyride in the halftrack possible.

This is one of those two 'pool gate guards, Neil. The CO's vehicle.

Neil,
I'm having real problems with reliable internet connection at present. I believe if you peruse my photo gallery, you'll find some of the items on your list. I just tried but I keep getting bumped off the 'net by the modem or something. Must rag on ISP.

Here's one, if I can get it posted before I lose the connection...

Hi,

May be able to help with this, at least as of December 2008. I was there for about 4 months until I got yanked for a trip to the Big Sand. Check on here for some of my threads, I'm pretty sure I posted some of the M60s for another "collector" here.

As of December 2008:

M2 Half Track USA out SN 232411 - Indoor storage in the yard across from the fire station.
M60A3 USA out SN 1364, RN JJ05UF; - check my pics, but I'm pretty sure this one is out.
M113A2 USA out RN 12FC85 - Don't remember seeing this one.
M578 USA out SN BMY1252 - Also in the storage yard, but outside.

M4A3 Sherman USA out SN 2938, RN 3055898 - Memorial park, near the regimental DFAC.
M26 Pershing USA out SN 893, RN 30127639; ex Eglin AFB - Memorial park, near the regimental DFAC.
M47 Patton USA out SN 1560; Motorpool gate guard - Still there
M551 Sheridan USA out RN 12B49170 - Outside the Regimental HQ, across from the memorial park.
M551 Sheridan OPFOR T-72 USA out RN 13C516; - Now in the parking lot in front of the Museum.
M551 Sheridan OPFOR T-72 USA out RN 12F25269; - Now in the parking lot in front of the Museum.
T-72 SOV/IRQ out SN Ja03WT4620 - Beside entrance road to new Operations Group HQ building.

M74 USA out SN 74159 - Same place, across from memorial park.

M48A5 AVLB USA out SN A1B072 - This is down near the motorpools on main road into "the box", just down the street from the M47 that Doug posted pics of.
M60A3 USA out AAD rebuild SN 1780A; - Not sure which one this is.

3rd St and Barstow Rd
M60A3 USA out AAD rebuild SN 1778A, RN 09A22370 - Not sure

5th and 7th Streets
M728 USA out SN 893 - Memorial park

Main Gate
M48C? Patton USA out SN 3599, RN 9A9031 - Memorial park?
M551 Sheridan OPFOR T-72 USA out RN 12F31769 - May be one of the group outside new Ops Grp HQ.

M84 USA out - Parking lot outside one of the barracks blocks.

Operations Group HQ
M47 Patton USA/ITA out SN 1022, RN 30186389
M109 USA out SN 50021
M113A2 USA out SN MSJ12913
These are all on the entry road to the new Ops Grp HQ, along with an M60A3, a BMP and a simulated T-80

Range Target
M47 Patton USA/ITA wre - Not seen

There is now a BMP and an M1 at the Main Gate/Sign

Sorry I can't remember road names...my CRS is bad about stuff like that. I've got pics of most of these, but I'm on crappy internet (should be glad I have it at all!) until January or so. If you remind me after that, I can figure out how to get them to you. Most of the M60A3s should be in my pics here.

You may consider calling the Museum curator and explaining your purpose. They were pretty helpful when I talked with them there, and they have a decent idea of where things are.

Chuck

Neil,

Maybe this was already answered, but I believe that M3 Scout Car was parked at and owned by an "army surplus" store in the area of Ft. Irwin (not on-post)...have some photos of that myself. Jeff and our China Lake contact (login name eludes me now, some kind of '60 musclecar like a "68Barracuda") went by there.

Okay, I gotta admit I'm still confused about a few items:

Is this M113 currently (not necessarily when the pic was taken) RN 12FC85 at the Museum, or SN MSJ12913 at the Operations Group HQ - or is there only one M113?

Which M60A3 is this? Is it SN 1364, RN JJ05UF, formerly in a storage yard/now at the museum; AAD rebuild SN 1780A, formerly/currently in the 58th Engineer Battalion Motorpool; AAD rebuild SN 1778A, RN 09A22370, formerly/currently at 3rd St and Barstow Rd/Fort Irwin Rd; or a fourth M60A3 (unknown SN/RN) at 5th St and Fort Irwin Rd.

Similarly, I assume this M109 is at the Ops Group HQ

Also, are these the same or different M48 Pattons?

com-central.net/index....mp;start=0

(dated 25 Oct 2009?)

And where / which one is this M60A3 (formerly by Landmark Inn) now?
