Come join us for this special FSX New Years Day Flight put together by Gunter aka Snorre.

This flight will require additional downloads. All links are available in this post. Read on for more info...

Here's the plan: We meet in Launceston, Tasmania (YMLT), check our airplanes and head off following the river in a north-westerly heading. For the whole flight we stay at or below 1500ft, later 1000 ft will do.

With the exception of our YMLT, all other airports are not in the FSX database, so we need to polish our dead reckoning skills and fly strictly VFR, map clock and compass. The first leg will take us after about 32 miles to Georgetown, a nice airport with a concrete runway, last time we see such a complete airport. After we stretched our legs and checked the weather we continue about 26 miles on a easterly heading to land at Bridport (YBDP). Just a dirt runway, but a couple of parked cars show us that there's someone, not just the vending machine...

From here we head north-east to reach Swan Island after about 34 miles. That's the place to be, only a minute or two later we are at an empty beach, ready for a barbecue, some relaxing, enjoying the beach and the nice weather.

Getting bored? Ready for some more? OK, here we go. Just 17 miles across the water there is Passage Island (YPSI), nobody here but us and its getting late. Now we either call it a day and camp here or, in case the urge for a beer or two is stronger, we continue on our last leg for today. About 19 miles northwest from here is Lady Barron (YLDB), a village with an airport. Some people, some bars and restaurants and a motel, a cool place to end a wonderful day flying and exploring the beauties of Tasmania.

Interested? Well, join us on that trip on Sunday, Jan 3, starting at 1PM CST or 1900 GMT!

What do you need?

1) Well, you should have the FSX and either FTX Region Blue or the free demo covering Tasmania Click HERE! ,(click on the "AU Blue Free Demo button).

2) On the same site download YMLT.

3) To see all the other nicely made airports, you also need the OZx 3.0 free airports Click HERE!.

4) As an airplane, we suggest the Auster and can be found HERE! but any light airplane that runs at or about 100 mph will do. If you want additional paints, CC hosts a Repaint update package for the Auster, Click HERE!

5) The flight plan for the flight can be downloaded by Clicking HERE!

We're looking forward to seeing all of you and everyone is invited to attend. If you don't have the FSX Flight Simulator, you can still join the voice conversation by joining the Com-Central Team Speak Server. A special Channel will be created for this event.

A special thanks to Snorre for putting this fine package together.

I'll do my best to attend.
In the meanwhile, all the needed files are already in their right place.
