Building a Bronco A13 Mk II and would like to finish it in the Malta colours of A Sqn 6 RTR. The only photos I have of this sub-unit the vehicle appears in desert sand or stone. I was hoping to have evidence of it being in the famous Malta rubble pattern. Would anyone know if the 6 RTR A13s were painted in the rubble pattern. Cheers!

Didn't they have Vickers Light tanks when they were on Malta?

They did indeed have Vickers VIB, a couple of Matiltas and a few A13s and some Universal Carriers. The majority of the AFVs were in rubble camo but I have yet to see a picture of the A13s in anything but basic desert yellow. See the Imperial War Museum data bank for pictures of the A13s in Malta. A Sqn 6 RTR arrived in Jan 1942 with the creatures. Cheers!

This is the IWM ONLINE photo data bank. Just type in A13 or anything else for that matter and up they will come. Cheers!

I had a look in 'British Tank Markings and Names' - it shows a Mark VI in Malta camouflage, but not an A13, unfortunately. I've also seen a Valentine in an online photo in the same camouflage, so I'd say there's a good chance it happened.

Thank you very much. I too have seen the Mk VIs, a Matilda and even some B vehicles in the Malta rubble cam...but the A13 remains elusive. I remain hopeful that I can fine one. There will be a time when I will have to decide what to do but I would much rather use a contemporary photo. I have even looked at what I could find about 6 RTR but to no avail. Oh well the search continues! Cheers!

I have a poor quality photo of an A13 in the brick-wall pattern.
