I lived in North Stadium for a year during my 'tenure' as a student at LSU (1978 - 1984). Ran into a photo of it being stored in the stadium in the 1960's and tried to find it. It was one of the big forgotten secrets on campus.
Years later it was pulled out when they towed the USS Kidd up the Mississippi to the current site of the Museum.
I had heard it was a gift to LSU from China since Claire Chenault (sp) was a graduate.
