At the beginning of 1945, when Soviet troops were moving to the west, under that tank broke the ice. The vehicle came down the river near city Warta (district Sieradz, Poland).

I wish they find an M4A2(76) VVSS Sherman next time.

It is a Sherman, but we know no survivor of this particular variant. We know some surviving M4A3(76) VVSS and HVSS, some M4A2(76) HVSS, but not any M4A2(76) VVSS. Some of us would need a full study of that kind of tank in original WW2 configuration.

bialy-r: not 100% sure, but it's can be tank from 57 OTP (Independent Tank Regiment). They lost one Valentine IX in late january 1945 (MIA in documents).

If you have contact with, Jacek Kopczyński, i can help with documentation about Valentine IX.

By the way - good find!
