#77: Re: Full Militärmuseum Author: Costas_TT, Posted: Fri Jul 19, 2013 10:34 pm ---- Is it a 2.5-ton, or a 5-ton truck? The a 2.5-ton Saurer 1CR1D is visually very similar to the 5-ton 4CT1D. Bart Vanderveen describes the former (in The Observer's Army Vehicles to 1940 Directory) as basically a civilian model modified with a radiator brush guard, towing attachments, etc, to meet the military's specs and powered by a 65 bhp 4-cyl gasoline engine. The 5-ton truck had a 6-cyl diesel producing 100 bhp.
If you had a profile pic, it would be easier to tell, based on the length of the cargo bed. from this angle, it looks like it has the shorter bed of the 2.5-tonner.

I think that it is quite ugly lol, but at least it is original. Not sure that it would work very well on the battlefield, it would probably make the enemy laugh a bit.
