The first Amtracs operated by the Chinese PLA were those captured from KMT forces during the civil war. The PLA even did some interesting modifications on them.

It appears that the 75mm howitzer was replaced by a smaller high velocity gun, most likely a 37mm piece.



The PLA also modified a number of LVT(A)-4 amtracs to increase their firepower by replacing the howitzer with a ZiS-2 57mm gun complete with shield. Sadly, no images of surviving examples (if any exist, that is) have surfaced.
