Yep, that works for me. Just leave the "img" tags off and rather than having the pic display automatically, you will have a clickable link that opens in a new window (the same effect that's achieved when highlighting the URL without the tags and clicking "open in new window"). It's an extra step for the viewer, but it's just a single mouse click to display...and you wouldn't have to rename any files.
