Ecoterror Suspect Commits Suicide in Jail

PHOENIX (AP) -- An Arizona bookstore owner charged in the firebombing of a government wildlife lab in Washington committed suicide in his jail cell Thursday, officials said.

William C. Rodgers, 40, of Prescott, Ariz., suffocated after placing a plastic bag over his head while in a one-person cell in Flagstaff, the Coconino County medical examiner said.

Rodgers was one of six people arrested earlier this month in connection with ecoterror attacks in Oregon and Washington in recent years.

He was accused of setting fire to the Agriculture Department's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services facility in Olympia, Wash., in 1998.

Federal court documents last week said Rodgers had been linked to a meeting of Earth Liberation Front members in western Colorado where the firebombing of a Colorado ski resort, one of the costliest ecoterror crimes in the U.S., was planned.

A plastic bag over the head eh. Sounds like one of those "Mafia" style suicides Laughing

...Or a British Conservative MP's idea of a good night out.

A few years ago, in the South of England (New Forest), a bunch of animal rights activists decided that keeping those cute widdle minks in cages to make coats and stuff wasn't vewy nice. They may have been right.
So, one night, these all-knowing and highly intelligent widdle cutsey-pies broke into a mink farm and weleased all the widdle minks so they could be fwee, and pwance awound the meadows.
However, these righteous folk neglected to fully understand the implications of their actions (brought up on a unique diet of Bambi and Bugs Bunny); Mink are particularly vicious and prolific forest predators often attacking prey much larger than themselves. Within months the west of the widdle bunnies and fowest wildlife had been dessimated and is still recovering today.
By releasing a few hundred mink the animal-lovers had killed thousands of other animals, many of which the mink wouldn't eat anyway.
Moral; A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing, especially in the hands of people who can't distinguish between Walt Disney and reality.

Minks also turn cannabalistic quickly when there is no suitable prey....or they haven't acquired hunting skills from having been raised on one of the farms.

These people don't think, and are incabable of it. They see no further than their own self-righteous indignation and simply can't tolerate anyone who doesn't share their values (hmmm...where else in the world does such an attitude prevail?.....)

And they'd be the first to sue, if some cosmetic or food product irritated them because it hadn't been subject to the necessary animal testing....
