I was just wondering what is this, when, and where it was used thanks, jeffrey.
That was my sons question and typing. He likes motorcycles, ATV's and armor, so this picture really caught his eye. You might remember the pictures I posted of him riding in the M2 Half-Track that Doug got to drive later on. Oh yeah, he thinks Doug is "a pretty intresting guy".

I've seen pics of those being used to move aircraft around Luftwaffe flightlines, too.

Most German 3/4 track vehicles used some form of controlled differential to assist steering. I have seen at least one photo of a Kettenrad being driven without the front wheel in place, just empty forks.
