Stoopy, I 'll need to do a new readme file for Phu Bai to note Al Simm's credits for macros....

I've also sent him, and Wingnut, and Fr8ycat messages telling where to get the same version I uploaded last nite for evaluation.

There's no drastic change in the updated Army OH6 from the original vers.

I used the civy model and just added the gunners and minigun from the original OH6. It was easier to do it this way to incorporate the little changes I made between the original Army Vers. and the Civy model an to also get the civy's flight characteristics which I like more and think are a little more responsive than Army vers.1.

So for anybody that tests it we're looking for things like does it install correctly, gauges all work, exterior model and VC have all the parts in the right places, animations & lights work and such.

Have you guys thought about using Fr8dycats UH-1? I have It and can with his permission get it uploaded to a private ftp server and send you a link. I also have his original army OH-6 with the open doors and mini-gun. I slightly changed it on my sim, by putting the air file from the civie version in it making it a little more responsive, but I didn't change the ZIP file. I also received both PM's but am at work so I'll get the packages when I get home tonight.

Shucks Ascout, you didn't have to reserve me a parking space up front.

Looks good, the newer building, church and static AC are nice touches over the original.

Only thing I noticed is what you already previously stated and that is with the SEA mesh enabled the taxiways (not a prob with runway) turn to grass as you fly over them with external view. Turning the mesh off solves the prob. I can personally deal with it because I feel the mesh adds so much more visually so in IMHO it's a small price to pay.

Otherwise didn't notice any probs with placement.

For textures: or textures. Think what Stoopy refered to previously is just the way the roofs on the barracks look from a distance (white or untextured). If you get close you can see the corrugated lines, although I didn't inspect every roof.

But he is correct about the Hangar roof across from the Control tower, it is white when the hangar roof on the other end is greyish.

Nice work.

Richard,
Thanks....yes, that's weird about the hangar roof...it's the same dang hangar in both places, so why would one appear and the other not? Strange.

Yes, the freeware mesh is about 40' off from the stock terrain and I designed the runway/taxiway as the best compromise (you'll notice a slight hill surrounds it with mesh on...that's the flatten area effect for the difference in altitude). Since I wanted it to work for those without mesh, I accept the "fade" with some roads as the price of running the enhanced mesh, which is well worth it, as you note.

Don't crowd the revetments too much when "parking"...those are actually "buildings" and they have a crash bubble.

As for that roof texture, I think Al's macros may somehow interfere with stock FSSC buildings when in proximety...I may experiment with this at home and change location of some buildings if necessary.

Stoopy painted up the C-130 right nice, dontcha' think? Wink

Thanks wingnut. I can't speak for Fr8ycat's UH-1 vs. others, I don't do too much with Bell products.. Smile Other thoughts? I'm sure Fr8ycat hisself can comment on the best UH-1 to use Wink

As for your sugegstions on the OH-6A.....you describe perfectly what Sir Frady has accomplished. It's the original OH-6A Army Loach on the outside - replete with minigun on one livery - with all the new civvie stuff (air file, gauges, and other improved whatnots) under the hood....best of both worlds...GMTA! You'll see for yourself when you get the link for the BETA file ....which is slightly delayed due to some minor changes th'cat has identified and which should be in place when our consultant delivers his consultation on a consultory item and we get the guys in the paint booth to modify anything if needed.

Dang, this budget gets harder to manage all the time....

It's being processed in accounting, yeah...plus we're waiting for the few burnt and shredded P-38 parts - what's left of Torquemada's ride after the last race - to get sold on eBay..... Crying or Very sad

Well if your talking about my UH1D I'd say Bauntons has mine beat. That was my first ever modeling effort and although not bad for what it is Bauntons is alot more detailed and nicer looking.

If your talking about the UH1C Gunship I'd say it would be a nice replacement for lack of a proper time period Cobra. After all it is what was used until the Cobra came along to replace it and in 67-69 from accounts I've read is what the 3/5th used on occassion as their CC chopper. A couple of probs is the VC is lacking visually/outdated. Was made from Mr. moores original huey OSD which in FS years is many moons ago and things have progressed a great deal since and although it does have rocket effects I dont think it's something youd want to use in MP.....it would probably bring everyones FPS to a screeching halt. Not to mention from what I understand this praticular mission doesn't have a need for a gunship.

But if this thing gets off the ground I'd say there could be a place for the Huey Gunship in future missions.

Ain't no "if' about it my brother Sau!

I think Deane Baunton's was the one I have installed and do fly occasionally...is that the one you added the afore-mentioned sound files to?

It is a decent helo at that, and relatively easy to fly for any less-experienced but interested rotary-wing pilots. No offense to your work of course....I'm hoping and praying for a slot in an available OH-6 for this!!!!

Sounds like DB's UH-1 is preferred by you, and unless opinions are to the contrary I'll plan on making that the one to be identified and possibly packaged, with the sound file upgrade, if permissible.

We could always provide links to both and people could fly their preference of the two, also. Thanks to FS9's multiplayer quirks, If someone doesn't have the other one, they'll see theirs, which kinda works itself out....

I plan to fly DB's UH-1 1969 Vietnam Huey myself, with occasional forays into the OH-6A on other flights or legs. We should find a spot for the Blues Brothers CH-47 also.

as for this:

Well I do think I have DB beat for nose art........... Laughing

I think DB's huey is the favorite and many probably don't even know about mine especially if you'v just gotten into the helo thing recently. Since it was released so long ago you'd have to go back many pages in the HC DL section to find it and with the new & improved HC site I don't even think it is still available over there.

To get things going and for uniformity I say stick with DB'S. We can always add it in the future if it doesn't present a conflict with showing as DB's huey and vice versa.

And yes Stoopy I added the huey sound file I talked about previously to DB's huey.

Speaking of, there's a couple of pics at the beginning of this thread to get you all gooey.

Both are 101st markings, and the Cobra is specifically done in B Troop, 2/17th Cav markings...the "Banshees", immediate next-door neighbors and also shared the Scabbard pad with the rest of us at Camp Eagle:
