I got these three taken today. The M60 has serial number 1420 on its rear deck. The M48 has 675 cast into the front hull and 675 stamped into the rear hull. Are these the vehicles serial number?

I take it your a fan of the M47?! I didn't see any numbers on this particular tank. If all goes according to plan, I intend to spend most of the day this Friday between both museums and other points on post, registering all the serial numbers and USA numbers I can. Neil sent me two lists to go off of and I intend to check them out as well as some Shermans that are scattered around the post. At that time I will look more in-depth at each vehicle.

Having had a love affair with the M48 for years it caught me by suprise to see an non-upgraded M48 in such good shape. Notic the 5 support rollers and the trailing track idler and theres no cuplola, from the way she sitting there may even be a power-pack in it. the only thing not original is the track.

I'll check to see if there is a powerpack or not this Friday if I get back there like I plan too. If thats not the original track, what might it be off of that fits? Did you see the sad M48 that I posted thats at the 1st Cav museum? It had an interior picture and it literally was a gutted hull.

Hi Top! Hi Folks!

- oldtop

Having had a love affair with the M48 for years....
...the only thing not original is the track.

What? Are you sure Top? It looks like the rubber chevron type (which I thought was correct for the M48 FOVs), but very badly worn which almost makes it look like the current flat rubber block being used on the M1s.

I know the first time I saw those photos, I was thinking it had M1 type track block.

OK M48 fans, the museum lists the serial number for this M48A1 as 922B, and that it was built in 1958 by Ford. USA number is W0718842 on its sides, don't know if that correct or not.
