I'm at Camp Pendleton this weekend so here's my update for the registry:
LAV Memorial: LAV-25 no longer there. Whereabouts unknown.
School of Infantry: add T-69. MTLB not there.
Paintball park: T-62 & what looked like a M110A2. Will confirm that tomorrow.
1st Combat Engineer Bn: Abrams Breacher

San Diego: 4th Tank Bn M1A1 Abrams with the Sherman & M60A1.

I'll be rechecking AAD Rebuild SNs 2202A and 2454A when I can for the same.

Lesley,
The paint was too thick on both vehicles to see anything. We did not get to the paintball range to see the second T-62. We'll be back their next Spring, weather permitting and get a closer look.

CFB Borden update from our 11/2011 visit -

I spoke with the museum director and learned:

The M4A1 with Firefly turret is being restored to running condition at an area high school. They may install a diesel engine for ease of use.

The T55 and T72 were at the base shop having their fluids drained and were unavailable for viewing.

The T17E1 Staghound is now at CFB Petawawa.

Also- on this visit we had time to drive around the base and play scavenger hunt. We managed to find everything listed in the register - with the exceptions listed above - except a second M4A2. In addition we found many German WW2 artillery pieces.

Photos to be posted when time permits.

Cheers!
The VBs

Toronto, ON update

The Denison Armory in Toronto is now surrounded by a tall chain link fence - so the days of unobstructed photos of the 2 M4A2s on display are no more! Too bad. Sad

edit: there are also a number of M60A3's and/or other unidentified vehicles on the range proper to the west; I counted at least 10.

Neil -

Found the location (via Google Satellite view) for the American Museum for Military Vehicles in Crown Point, IN.

Neil -

We stopped by the location for:
FRANKLIN, KY
AMVETS Post 110, 1080 Harding Road (N36 42.983 W86 33.683) M26

to photograph the M26 and found a brand new Gas station and no sign of the AMVETS post or the M26.

Google Satellite and street view show the AMVETS post, but it is no longer at that address! Didn't have time to hunt it down, as we were passing through - like usual!

Cheers!

Indeed a interesting area! Isn't this part of Lakehurst Naval test facility or some army unit? Some other locations;
N40 02.730 W074 27.646 a preserved AFV
N40 01.864 W074 27.391 a UH-1 wreck?
N40 00.301 W074 26.168 3 x AFV
N40 00.343 W074 26.402 3 x AFV as hard target, one tank with turret flipped off?

Lesley

The Nashua M60 at N 42 57.365 W 092 32.148

A picture on the link below gives 3484A as serial, I have 3848A as serial. Is it a typing error from myself or is the serial indeed 3484A?

The M50 Super Sherman "Alberta" from Royal Canadian Legion Branch 105, Olds (Canada) was replaced by Sherman Easy Eight.

Where is now the M50 Super Sherman ?
