Here is a shot of the turret rear of M26 (Chrysler built #10) with the torch cut 'chunk'. This vehicle was received about 2 years ago.

- Dontos
A few confirmation SN's from Richardson MP:

M60A3- SN: 836

I think this should be an M60A1 RISE... No A or M for an A3 rebuild SN.

M3 Light- SN: 1343

This one has me confused... I have three M3 Stuarts in storage:

M3 Stuart SN 158 (empty hull & turret) as you noted;
M3A1 Stuart SN 8722 (empty hull & turret) as you noted; and
M3A1 Stuart diesel SN 793 (converted from an M3).

I also had 2 M3A1 Stuarts in the museum - SN 8281, and an unidentified SN.

Plus another M3A3 Stuart in the LST Building - SN 10673.

Perhaps this is the second one that was in the museum?

Thanks for all the info!

Neil

Neil,

SN 836 is a newly built Detroit A3, Just like SN 837 at Crecy Hall on Knox.

Joe,
I seem to also have an M60A0 listed in the 4th ID Museum Storage Facility as SN 836?

Yes,

I've seen pictures of her that were posted by Jeff Button.

M60, M60A1, and M60A2 serial numbers went in sequence (there are some gaps though). For some reason the new M60A3 series started over with 1. My current info has the Anniston rebuilds starting around 1700, with an "A", and Mainz starting around 3300 with an "M". I have yet to find hard proof that they repeated the SN's between Detroit, Mainz and Anniston. If they did, It would really add to total number of A3's produced, which are already more than the 5400 you see published in most references. To add to the mess, very late Anniston rebuilds retained the M60A1 number.

So in a nutshell, they have the same SN, along with many other M60's and M60A3's that were made in Detroit.

You have an M60A3 listed in the Cincinnati area listed twice; it's listed under Cincinnati, Green Twp as "M60A3 AAD Rebuild s/n 2470A" as unconfirmed, and again under Dent, Ohio as "M60A1/A3?" This is the same vehicle, and I can confirm that it is s/n 2470A:

Hope this helps some

edit: forgot to include this; it's on the left side of the turret. Not sure what it means.

edit2: the park is called the Green Township War Memorial if you'd want to change that.
