I was just checking out the National Organization of Citizens on Patrol and notice a Volunteer ,Jim Durant, was killed while performing traffic control at an accident. I am a member of the Odessa Citizens on Patrol and we do this a lot. It is dangerous and we accept the risk to help our community. He also worked for the FAA, and served in the Army in Vietnam
(Please slow down when you see the red and blues flashing at an accident)

1Bullet, very sorry to hear of the loss. Certainly, fatalities and accidents involving vehicle operations near police officers, road crews and citizens - particularly volunteers - caused by individuals who simply can't operate a vehicle sanely, are one of the worst tragedies.

In particular, the quote at the bottom of the obituary was very thoughtful.
