Super, thanks for posting all those links!
My home PC with cable was having problems with the first two pages of this thread, but was able to download the third page in no time.
My boss's PC was also has problems with the size of the frist two pages and downloads page three in a blink of an eye.

While we (and I) really appreciate these wonderful pictures, we also need that you take a moment and read Fledermaus' "announcement" at the top of the forum and the related thread:
...and edit your post to contain a maximum of ten images. It would best then I think to start another thread with the next ten since we don't know where the page will break, and another for the next ten, and so on. If you could attend to that immediately, I'm sure the Admin & Moderator staff would appreciate it as well as those on dial-up. Thanks!
Doug

#7: Re: US Army AFVs from eBay Author: Dennis_Smith, Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 10:01 pm ---- Joe, those two photos are in the collection that Taranov posted (on page 2). Caption says "Rep Buell 1st Army AA gun Carolina Maneuvers 8x10 1941"

Any captions with the pictures?? Might be some new fangled sighting device that never got adopted, BTW, any idea who the civilian is???

#9: Re: US Army AFVs from eBay Author: Dennis_Smith, Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 9:15 pm ---- The two water hoses are visible in this photo. Also 2 cables to the gunsight. (??)
#10: Re: US Army AFVs from eBay Author: Joe_D, Location: Razorback CountryPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 8:27 pm ---- Actually,
There should be two hoses attached to the weapon for the water jacket that allows the expanding water to collect in a condensor. The water cooled version .50 Cal is a pretty bulky weapon, these are probably part of an Air Defense unit set up, the condensor would be located away as to not get in the way of the crew.
Now that funky sight.... , Maybe some training device, it's obvious the weapon isn't loaded or has been fired. Where's all the expended brass??? Those two guys staring intently at their "Box?" might be an early Fire Direction Center crew or could be operating the funky sight inputting, dare I say, "Data ?"

#11: Re: US Army AFVs from eBay Author: Dennis_Smith, Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 7:34 pm ---- Thanks guys, I understand the water cooled part, but what are the cables and hoses going to the sight? It seems like an early period to have predictor sights on a gun??

#14: Re: US Army AFVs from eBay Author: Dennis_Smith, Posted: Thu Oct 11, 2007 2:41 pm ---- Anybody know what kind of machine gun this is?
#15: Re: US Army AFVs from eBay Author: Kurt_Laughlin, Posted: Mon Oct 08, 2007 4:23 pm ---- I'm pretty sure these two are the relatively rare M3A4s with the Chrysler Multibank engines:
