SP-6 paint stripper + angle sander vs. 70 years old paint (2 mm thickness).

If I understand well, the tanks were in original colours (or pre-WW2 ones) before you repainted them?
I would have preferred that the old paint was kept instead of repainting them..

Or at least that some kind of record could have been kept... Crying or Very sad Just like they did with Bovington´s Tiger I.
Are you going to apply the same treatment to German vehicles?
If so could you please record things like base colour, cammo schemes and interior colours as they appear under the paint layers? Some pictures would be nice too...

We paint tank in one of RAL colors, simitar to 4BO. Sand Yellow simitar to 6K, Brown to 7K soviet colors. When we are remove paint layers from TT-26, we found clean original color, very simitar to RAL.

BTW, original markings of TT-26 prototype:

Looks like you´re doing your best, thank for your pictures but don´t forget that every bit of info that is lost now, could be very important in a non distant future...
May I suggest you to preserve paint chips of the original paint layers? Just like a reference Mr. Green

Right now no. He is in not bad condition, missed small details like Hotckiss WZ.25 mount.
BTW any refs of original WP armour colors can be useful. We have plans to repaint TKS in original colors. Also we have plans of 37M Ansaldo repaint - current paintscheme is awful (italian desert paintscheme on the hungarian tankette looks strange Laughing )

Some progress shots
We start new project - VCL M.1931 tank. Initial idea - 4-tone camo, like on the chinese tanks, but under paint layers we found Red Army markings:

My reconstruction of original Kubinka's VCL M.1931 markings. Maybe he used in Red Army first.

Cleaned parts - markings on every detail Shocked

Front side cleaning is finished (5 hours non-stop cleaning with angle sander, hands "little" tired...)

BTW anyone know, where serial number of this VCL M.1931 is located?

On this week AFVs in hangar #7 (France, Hungary, Japan etc) prepared for repaint (not ours repaint team, it's work of museum members for tankman's day, we are only help with paintschemes and markings). Now TKS front plate and data plate on back side armor plate is cleaned:

Need help of polish community. Can be very nice to know history of this TKS. Number of regiment where he is used, history of regiment etc.

Some news

News #1 - unofficial data of opening - 6-th september
News #2 - we found serial number of hungarian 37M Ansaldo tankette. H-153. In fact, some years ago original paint has been removed, only on the front armor plate preserved original colors and markings (i think, soldiers been too lazy for paint removing from this plate). Interesting - simitar number (H-151) have captured 37M Ansaldo tankette in Budapest, winter 1944-45. Maybe Kubinka's 37M also from Budapest.
