Yeah I know, another M59.

This one is located at the National Gaurd Armory, 144 Sparta HWY in Crossville. I am hoping to photo all the static AFV's in Tennesse before the year is out. Keeps me busy when traveling the roads.

I noticed that the M-59 track looks a lot like the M-42 "Duster" track. Anybody know if it's the same?

Yes it is.
The M-59 APC, the M-42 SP AAA, the M-44 SP 155 mm howitzer and the M-52 SP 105 mm howitzer vehicles are all based on the M-41 Walker Bulldog light tank program.

I thought the M75 APC was the one based on the M41.

Per Hunnicutt:
The M75 came from the T18, which was based on the T43 Cargo Tractor, which started out in April 1945 as a VVSS suspension system.

The M75 has road wheels and track that look like it came from the M41 project, but it sounds like it picked up those items after a change in the design.

Before I read the above I was thinking it was based on the M24 light tank which it is not.

In fact, it's an easy mistake because the M24 75mm tank and M41 76mm tank families used many of the same suspension components!

The following vehicles all used the same roadwheels:
M8A1 tractor
M19 40mm SP
M24 75mm tank
M37 105mm SP
M41 76mm tank
M41 155mm SP
M42 40mm SP
M44 155mm SP
M52 105mm SP
M59 AIV
M75 AIV

Most used the same idler and return rollers as well, while the tracks and sprockets were pretty much split between the M24 and M41 tank families.

Contrary to what some believe (and what would appear to be logical) none of the M18 76mm SP/M39 AUV components were ever used on anything beyond those vehicles - All the M24 items were different.
