The first National Park (Yellowstone) was created in 1872 however there was no National Park Service until 1916. So who took care of the parks? The US Army for one. Below are four pictures from Yosemite National Park from 1909. These depict F Troop 6th Cavalry and 14th Cavalry. Note the first picture the horses are standing on the side of a downed Giant Sequoia tree. Don't have photos but there was a black infantry unit there once also. May have been the 20th Infantry. I obtained these photos courtesy of the Yosemite Research Library (National Park Service). ARMOR CONTENT-Both units later got tanks. Much later Wink

The first pic showing the men with their horses along the fallen trunk is simply amazing.
