#2: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: Shadow_Bshwackr, Location: Central Illinois, USAPosted: Sun Jun 01, 2008 9:03 pm ---- Hiya Tazzharm and welcome to Com Central
To upload a pic, please resize it down first to 800x600. On the reply post, there is a 'add attachment' feature. Upload the pic there.
My first thoughts on your water...
1) Did this happen all of a sudden?
2) Was it this way by default?
3) Did you add/change any new scenery?
4) Did you update your video card drivers recently?
Usually, if you think back, it's something to do with that last thing you did or installed.
#3: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: tazzharm, Posted: Sun Jun 01, 2008 10:00 pm ---- hello
well its always been like that very similar to the ground textures in winter
I've patched tried add ons and only noticed the rivers are blue.'
when I've looked at your web's screen shots looks great, but everything in my shot is ok except water
im trying to upload pic but its not allowing me to ..great..
all drivers updated my system built to run fsx and has no problems there.
as I seid cfs3 runs perfect just water is crappy
this is what I get when I click add image sorry bad day can't figure it out
basicly fly cfs3 in winter and the water looks like the ground but with boats lol
if I can't figure it out Ill try to re install and run it with out patching then with .
I'll wait for your reply
thanks
#4: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: Shadow_Bshwackr, Location: Central Illinois, USAPosted: Sun Jun 01, 2008 10:06 pm ---- Yep, I would try reinstalling the game, that may fix the issue. If it doesn't, try looking into the textures used for the water. You may find the answer there.
#5: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: tazzharm, Posted: Sun Jun 01, 2008 11:19 pm ---- well all reinstalled and patched 3.01b
still not showing up with colour in water any ideas
thanks
#6: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: Shadow_Bshwackr, Location: Central Illinois, USAPosted: Mon Jun 02, 2008 1:15 am ---- It may be a setting or if you're flying in a particular season, I.E. winter, summer, it may call for different water colors
You may have to go into the texture folder to see what the water textures look like. If the names of the textures don't make sense, you may have to get deeper into the .config file and see how the water is referenced there.
#7: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: tazzharm, Posted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 12:21 am ---- ok here are some of the cfs3conf.
// Water Detail
//
//////////////////////////////////////////////
PropertySet = "Water Quality 1"
DisableWaterShorelineRender = false
DisableWaterReflectionRender = false
DisableWaterAnimationRender = false
break
I have even went as far as quick mission and ensured summer to see any difference and none.
the only way I know I'm over water is because I see boats.
It's not allowing me to upload pics for somereason.
i tried a download max water effects and still nothing.
Image quality at max
I have everything running great during game but water.
hope this helps..
thank you very much .
#8: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: tazzharm, Posted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 11:34 pm ---- well I found out through others that the HD 3800 series of ati cards are not compatible with any of the cfs games.
so Uninstalled and wait for either newer version of cfs or just stick to other games
#9: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: Shadow_Bshwackr, Location: Central Illinois, USAPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 11:51 pm ---- Glad you found out what it was, but ATI drivers/card was the issue? OUCH...that sucks.
I've been running Nvidea for so long that I didn't think about the actual card manufacturer not supporting some games. Odd that ATI doesn't support a MS game. MS is one company you would think they would make sure and support...lol
How about IL2 1946, have you tried it?
#10: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: Kitform, Location: Cleveland. UK.Posted: Fri Jun 06, 2008 6:18 am ---- You could always try 'Maxtweaks' I think there's a blue water effect in there.
Available in the download section.
But like Bush says IL2 1946 is the way to go.
#11: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: tazzharm, Posted: Fri Jun 06, 2008 11:38 pm ---- I have IL2 not bad
would be nice to have a add on for fsx for combat though.

Here's hoping that someone out there is workin on it
#13: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: JG300-Stoopy, Location: Group W benchPosted: Fri Dec 26, 2008 6:21 pm ---- Well I hate to join this discussion late but I just thought I'd point out that the advice about ATI 3800 series cards not working with CFS games or CFS3 is just flat dead wrong. My ATI 3870 works just fine.
#14: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: JG300-Stoopy, Location: Group W benchPosted: Tue Dec 30, 2008 6:22 am ---- Woops I stand corrected. Took another gander at it and see what ya mean. Running an ATI 4870 card here. Definitely looks like forest textures under grey fog, instead of blue water. Or...it's algea, yeah, that's what it is....
I think the Spits will splash into it just fine anyways
#15: Re: grey water no blue anywhere Author: Shadow_Bshwackr, Location: Central Illinois, USAPosted: Tue Dec 30, 2008 1:28 pm ---- Has you tried different vid drivers for that card? I haven't had much experience with ATI as I tend to stay with NVidea, but I've seen issues similar to that in other games with NVidea and a different driver had different results and yes, at times fixed the issues.
