I am conscious that donated photographs are key to the value of PreservedTanks.com. I have therefore long had it in mind that I should provide a means for contributors to see where and how their photographs are being used. In breaks from working on Bovington I have started to develop this idea. Eventually each contributor will have a web page from where he can view all his photographs (and also display his own photographs, not necessarily related to a particular tank in the database - e.g. from his time in military service).
The Contributor feature is finished - well, it's up and working anyway, no doubt I will tweak it over time! There is now a web page that lists all contributors to PreservedTanks.com (about 130 so far) - each contributor then has a web page with basic details and photographs. I've written up some more details on the main page itself:
PreservedTanks.com Contributors
Many contributors are on this forum so I'm keen to get some feedback on the feature from here before I make it public.
The main aims are to provide:
1. A single place that you can go to check what photographs of yours I have used, and how (and also check photo credit details, etc.).
2. A web page that can be used to give information on your background, interests, info and photo requests, etc. Also a place you can post pictures that are relevant to tanks but don't fit directly on the PTC site. For example, pictures of your service on tanks, if any, or as a civilian at big events (like Tankfest) are perfect.
Privacy is important, so I've written at the top of the Contributor page how that is to be handled. The whole thing is entirely voluntary, of course, I will edit each entry as requested from no information and photographs to as much as you want to provide.
